Oh crap, I just realized reading thru here that I hope this supports HID. I just bought a bluespace Bluetooth mouse (tiny awesome mouse), damn hope it works.
The internal Bluetooth module supports the same profiles as the PCGA-BA1/A USB Bluetooth Adapter. So, that means it supports HID and I have already tested it with my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse.
Here’s the proof:
It works like a charm and doesn’t require any special drivers. Of course, you’ll want to install the special drivers if you need the extra functionality of that device.
I ordered the internal part direct from SONY last week. I just called and they said the part was already released from MFG. and was on its way, it just has to clear customs. I ordered it on the 29th of March and Sony gave me a Apr 15th arrival date. Well see how true this holds.
Sparepartswarehouse said they order things right from Sony also so the wait should be the same.
On ordering the cable from DigiKey, the 200mm was on “who knows” backorder but the 500mm was in stock. I called to check on it and just out of curiosity asked about the longer one. I changed my order.
Now, has anyone found the part no for the indicator panel with the BT logo?
I’m having problem ordering the mini coaxial cable(U.FL type connectors) and doesn’t know how it looked like. Tried ordering the parts(182726621) from Sony but they don’t do it cos it’s a “Sony service center orderable” item”.
I can’t order from SparePartwarehouse as well. Can you take a picture of how the cable should look like? So I can bring the pic down to my local cabling store to hunt!
April 15? Well could be worse. I have not gotten any kind of notification of shipping either. When I ordered the 200mm cable it did not say out of stock, and I have not been notified that it has shipped or is out of stock either. That certainly would be a bummer, to receive the module but not have the cable, LOL.
Darn, just called Digikey and the 200mm cable is scheduled to be in stock on 4/27, which means with ground shipping I will be lucky to get it the first week of May. I did keep my order though, I would just feel more comfortable with the right length cable. So looks like I will be staring at my bluetooth module on the shelf for a couple of weeks, LOL.
I am in the same line with everyone else. I ordered my parts on the 25th of March, so I am probably in the back of the line somewhere. I am looking forward to getting started on the project. I keep staring at the blank spot on my light display…waiting for that blue light to illuminate…
Wow, I must have been lucky with the cable part (even though I got the extra long one). At any rate, I’m going to see if I can find an alternative source to get the cable so you guys can start tearing open your TRs.
Now that its just a matter of time that alot of us will have BT built in, which mouse to use??????
I have always wanted the Microsoft one since I am pretty much spoiled by having the extra buttons, but elsewhere in this forum was mentioned the Bluetake BT-500 mouse; its pretty small and seems compatible.
I use both the BT500 and the Logitech MX900. The Logitech is definitely better and more comfortable. The BT500 loses its pairing with the Sony dongle much more than the Logitech does, although the BT500 is good for travel because it is so small. Too small for everyday use in my opinion. You cannot rest your palm on it.
I’ve had the BT500 for about a month now and have NEVER lost a connection to my TDK adapter. It works flawlessly and it is not ugly at all, very cool looking. I did get it because it is bluetooth and because it is TINY, people mistake it for a kids toy. It is comfortable to use for long periods, but does not compare to a full sized mouse for comfort at all. I do lots of reports for hours at a time, and I do get a bit of cramping at times in my hand, but thats after 2-3 hours of constant MS Word editing.
My main goal was to get a bluetooth mouse that was very small to match the size of my laptop, and to relieve the load on my back!
And yes the bluetake only has 3 buttons and a wheel, I do wish they had put some extra buttons, but where would they fit them? Highly recommended for the true road warrior.
So how long is the average battery life and what size does it use ? One more question… Is it heavy ? I know the Microsoft Wireless mouse are usually a little on the heavy side and can get a little awkward to use over a long period of time….
Perhaps it is just mine, but I lose the pairing sometimes with the BT500. This especially occurs if I am using it on an uneven surface. I do like the BT500, however. I just think it is too small for long usage, but to each their own. One great thing about the BT500, which I wish the Logitech had in the MX900, is the on/off switch. I’m not sure why this is the case for the MX900, perhaps because it is charged in a cradle and it is not really meant to be a travel mouse.
Woo hooo .... got my cable and bluetooth adapter from Sony yesterday!
It didn’t take very long, I ordered them on 3/29. Got it installed and is working great.
I did have a little problem locating which files were the wireless switch utility. So here’s the link:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/WLAN/WSSU_10013150.exe
Thanks, gr00vy0ne for doing the hard work. Keep it up.
