[quote author=“Gundam”][quote author=“rahulnirmal2000”]Only a year for notebook hard drives? Hmm, my dad bought his old Toshiba notebook with a 4.3 gig hard drive back in 1998 and had given it to his friend in 2002. During those four years, the hard drive never, ever had any issues period.
Maybe cause ur dads notebook was 2.5 inch HD compared to 1.8.
2.5 are more stable then 1.8 so therefore they can last 2 plus years compared to these harddrives which average 8 months to 1.5 years but always possible u get lucky and it lasts longer.
Guys,
you are preaching the wrong religion here. It is the batch/use patterns that determine how long a disk will work.
The TR1/2 had generally bad drive batches, while the TR3/5 were mostly good. I had a TR3 that still works and I bought in feb ‘03.
My T350, which I got in early may, has been up for total of 103 days, no clicks, no heat and running throughout most of the day at 30C.
The 1.8” enclosure that I got with the 40gig drive has been my lifesaver for the last year.
I had many 2.5” that failed in 2-3 months and they were mostly in Dells.
Again it is a batch/pattern of use issue. The Nepal guy for example. He has no clue why he is having problems and then he states that his lappy went to Mt. Everest twice… and turned out he has heating issues also.
