Toshiba HDD in TR3A

I need to buy a 40 GB HDD for my TR3A very urgently. Since I am based in India I am having real tough times locating a Seller for Hitachi (HTC424040F9AT00)

Does any Toshiba HDD fits in TR3A? whats the alternate model in Hitachi?

Any seller recommendations?

please help!!

Ankit! My friend Suras used to sell TRs in Kathmandu (now he has the newer models) and got me a Toshiba for the TR3; he has a pal that gets them from Singapore. Mine only cost 6000 nrs installed and took one week to get. Suras was so nice he even gave me a loaner laptop for the week. Anyway, he can be contacted here:  http://www.digitek.com.np. I’d tread carefully, as the Hitachi and Toshiba drives use different connectors on the motherboards. If you have a Hitachi drive in your TR, I don’t believe you can put a Toshiba one in it.

yeh, that’s a good point. groovyone would know. the answer is in this forum somewhere. my guess is you can go from a hitachi to a toshiba but not the other way around unless u get the strange hitachi connector, but i am not sure…sorry.

to my knowledge i have change the HD on a TR3A last year and it used a HITACHI drive.

my TR2A uses a toshiba., so i believe if you see hitachi in device management under disks, go ahead and buy the same.
