I have one for sale that will fit yours.  You should look for the PATA connectors, not ZIF as ZIF uses cable to connect while PATA is just connected, has 50 pins, just like the PATA connectors on desktop.

up on ebay.  nickmpower, that’s the market price. you can’t find anything cheaper unless you are going for lesser size.

No, ZIF connector will not work.  Only mini PATA for X505.

I’ve been researching and found there might be a solution. You can by these adaptors on ebay - “ZIF 1.8 to 50pin 1.8 micro-ata adaptor”. This allows you to connect any ZIF drive (5mm in height) to your X505 but there are issues regarding limited space inside the case. I recall reading a topic where removing the outer enclosure of the SSD will leave you with the main board measuring 3mm in height. If that’s the case then I don’t see why this upgrade isn’t possible.

In theory the front end of the SSD should sit just above the ZIF connector on the adaptor. Length wise, ZIF drives are also 1cm shorter compared to the equivalent 1.8 PATA HD, this gives you a bit extra space to place the drive.

This is just a theory, which I’m happy to try once I get my X505.

the adaptor seeems pretty tall though, and you have to run the cable

Let us know whether it’s plausible.
Thank you very much!

good for you, but you do know that it’s refurbished, not new… just FYI as a server HD can be accessed million times and it can kill the life of the SSD, and seller with 4 feedback and all are not seller feedback, it’s buyer feedback

good luck.  let me know how it goes

wow, the performance increase is amazing. I suggest that if you are thinking of upgrading, you buy one of the drives from the guy on ebay. Firefox starts in under 3 seconds
