The feeling must be wonderful.

It is barely bigger than the nano

and offers 8-14 times more space + video.

That’s also assuming people wanted more than just audio from their device. Of course, the price points are decent considering the new features.

It certainly makes everyone else take notice though. I wonder what the battery life is like when watching video. The battery life of the nano isn’t very impressive with just audio and it doesn’t look like they’ve addressed it very much with these new models. They claim 20 hours but we’ll have to see what the actual is.

comeon there are loads of PMP around which will probably be better to wtch movies on than the ipod with a widescreen…

i guess this new ipod isnt desgined to be a portable ‘dvd’ player i guess, much more an mp3 player with video capabilities…

so i guess there isnt much point owning one unless you havent already bought an mp3 player or if you prefer to watch music videos rather than just listen to the tracks.

if you want something that plays movies, so you can watch movies at a decent size, apart from the PSP iriver have a decent player

Oh, i forgot to mention that the video support is extremely limited.

MPEG-4 and H.264 video only….and also at 320x240 (H.264) and 480x480 (MPEG-4) maximum resolutions. That’s not entirely useful. It’s firmware upgradeable but you know they’ll just add support for codecs like Sorenson, MJPEG, and Apple Animation formats.

So, it’s definitely a novelty.

I own a Nano and I totally disagree.

3.5 x 1.6 x .27 and 1.5 ounces

4.1 x 2.4 x 0.43 and 4.8 ounces

Smaller, thinner, and it weighs less. It’s also 33% cheaper. And, if the screen is anywhere near as fragile as the Nano…nobody will be watching videos on it after a week, there will be too many scratches.

As Groovy stated, it’s also limited in video files…my portable media device plays native Divx…I can fit more then a season of the Simpsons ona 1GB card…and that’s more then I need.

Apple has definitely crapped on any Windows user who bought an iPod nano or new iPod thinking they could sync their contacts and calendar on these devices.

It never worked in iTunes 5 (barely a few months old) and most people figured they would fix it in iTunes 6. Well, the sync still doesn’t work. That’s false advertising!

Contacts still creates multiple contacts for people who happen to have more than one e-mail address (like all my friends/contacts). Calendaring doesn’t sync at all. At least it doesn’t give the -50 error…it just says it can’t sync.  :?

Oh, and over at engadget there’s some rumbling that the actual video watching time is 2-3 hours with the battery. That’s um….really really bad. You’re better off with a PSP which has a bigger/better/screen and far better life…at the expense of space. That new 4GB hard disk + super battery thingy for the PSP coming out soon will help things out.

I am happy with my Sony Video/Music/Photo pod…. HMP-A1.

As I mentioned be4, I was watching the Apple Special Event, and as Steve Jobs was unveling new iMacs, the specs showed up and I noticed that the HD capacity was MB :!:  somebody messed up big time….
I loved how he compared Apple remote with other brands…...
He prolly said the word FANTASTIC like 20 times…......
