Not had an iPod just going on feedback on web and stats comparrison and fact I use music download such as MSN Music & Napster so wanted WMA DRM & future ‘Janus’ support.

Smaller than iPOD mini, weighs less, 5GB instead of 4GB, 16-20hrs battery life instead of 7-8hrs with mini, better sound quality. Also has voice recording!

I had a 512MB Flash player but battery life is usually shorter, I didn’t have enough space for tracks I wanted & sound quality is not as good as higher price players.

Have over 1000 tracks on my Carbon with 2GB space spare. It also acts as a mass storage device like flash players and shows up under Windows as a hard drive with drag&drop; functionality.

After having lugged around the 40 GB iPod around, I am happy with the 4 GB. The 40GB one feels like a brick in comparison. Plus, I don’t need to have an entire cd library with me, since 4 GB really is more than enough anyhow, even for a trip.

Your Rio unit does look quite nice, but I wonder if those bulges on the side are also repeated on the front & back? It would be cool to see a side view of it as well…
