If we can keep the Win7 discussion on this thread then I’ll update this post to hold the most current info.

Touchpad: Original drivers work OK
Video: The standard VGA drivers will do 1024x768 but not 1280x768
Audio: Original drivers work OK

I’ll update this as info comes in on this thread.

I have a TR1MP which has been formatted and installed with XP SP2. I have no CD’s or recovery discs for it and have downloaded every driver I could from Sony’s website. The only driver I can’t find is the one for the Motion Eye camera. I have gone through all the steps mentioned in this forum but nothing has worked. In the device manager I have a USB device with the exclamation mark next to it which I assume is the camera. Is there not a USB driver for the camera? I have spent the last 5 hours searching the internet and have now given up. Can’t understand why Sony can’t just put it on their website with all the other drivers! :x

i got a new copy of windows xp professional and install it over the oem home edition but when i installed the pcg-tr3a utilities driver i got this “SXBIOS OPEN ERROR” when you click ok it gets batt errors. i would like to have the battery indicators because i have a faulty battery.

I just reinstalled XP home edition on my laptop (retail disc, I lost the original long ago). Sony’s support website provided me with nearly everything I needed except the driver/utility needed to make the hotkeys work. There is also an unrecognized USB device found, I am assuming it is the MotionEye camera (I did also install the camera drivers from the Sony site).

I have searched for nearly a day now on numerous forums without any luck. Could anyone either point me in the right direction for a download or provide me with the utility off of an original recovery disc?

Windows 7 runs on the TR!

Not sure whether I’m the first or not, but I have Windows 7 up and running on my TR1MP (I work for Microsoft). It seems a lot faster than XP to me, but of course I’m going from an XP with lots of stuff installed to a Win7 with practically nothing, so it’s always tricky to work out whether there’s a real improvement or not.

Resurrecting my PCG-TR5GP

I’ve had my PCG-TR5GP for about a year and love it dearly. Two weeks ago the hard drive died. The laptop was secondhand and didn’t come with recovery CDs.

Thanks to posts on this forum, I was able to disassemble the TR5, check the hard drive type (Toshiba), purchase and install a replacement. I’ve even managed to put XP Pro back on it, although I have yet to deal with the OEM vs upgrade product key issue.

Again thanks to this forum, I’ve found Rahul’s excellent resource of TR drivers. I realise I’ll have to try them out and see if they work with my model. But can someone tell me what the process is for installing these drivers? I figure I burn them to a CD and put that into the Vaio ... but then what?

It sounds a dumb question just writing it! But I have no idea how to apply the drivers. The XP Pro install hasn’t requested any so far, but wi-fi’s not working and it’s running video at 1024x768. I’m not sure what else under the hood needs to be updated.

How do I download files from phone to TR via BT?

I can connect my phones with BT just fine with the TR, however when I try to send pics from phones to TR (just like as if you are sending pics from phone A to phone B via BT), I can’t do it. Anyone know how?

I am using the integrated Sony TR BT module solution, not external.
