Migrating the S to Vista

Hi guys,

Nice to have a new forum! kinda miss the old one though.

I was wondering if you manage to get everything working on the S with vista. I have tried and manage to get everything but the brightness working. So I went back to XP for a while. Now I want to make a final transition.

I was following an old thread about but it was inconclusive by the end.

Any of you manage to get an S 100% working with Vista? If so, please give me some poiters. I have an S580.

Neater… although the original was just fine. Would be nice to have an opposite option rather than white text on a dark background which is proven bad for eyes and harder to read, (even though it may look more stylish)

Function wise does it mean no more images in topics? if so that is a bad move imo, also some of my images before were image links and they no longer function (all images showing as url links now)

Would like to browse topics in TR to see if I can assist but….

Hi there - I’m trying to update the “replacing TR hard disk step-by-step” thread (I’m too tired now to link to it - you don’t need to see it to get the idea).

I’m trying to edit the original post in the thread, which is quite a long one - the editor appears to cut the post halfway through when I try and edit it.

Is there a maximum post size?

I’m ” Q80 ” .. and I still face a problem loging in with my original nickname ..
The new forum required a 4 characters nickname at least .. and mine is 3 characters

Painfully slow at times

Was wondering why the forums are so painfully slow at times? is it my location? I’m in the UK.. it is definitely not my end because I’ve tried many different PC’s at two different locations both 8mb broadband, (fine on other sites & forums)

Sometimes it takes minutes for a page load that often ends in a 404. :cry:

Search not working very good?

Hi,

I just tried to find articles on “T General Topics” about “screen” and the search returned two articles only, “Adjusting the color of a TX screen” and “New Vaio TXs at SonyStyle USA”. But there are surely more articles containing this word, e.g. “The LCD cracked so easily!!!”

Am I getting something wrong or is the search broken?

Author bug

I’ve noticed that in the author title, the last posted ID shows up instead of the original Author. Just thought i’d like you know.

One more thing, ID’s dont show up anymore in the last post box on the main page.

Consolidation ideas…

I’ve been toying with the idea of consolidating some of the categories. Most notably, I’ve been thinking of consolidating all of the Ts (except the TR of course!) into one main category.

So, T + TX + TX2 would simply be the Type T Series. One of the reasons for this is that in other countries, the model names are different.

So, with the new SZ series…posts for this system would simply go under the existing Type S series.

You should still be able to find what you’re looking for but you’ll have to actually use the search feature on this site a little more.

What are your thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
