Vaio VGN-T130 Upgrades

Hi everyone. I own a VGN-T130FP. I want to upgrade the hard drive , but I don’t know which hard drive will fit and work with this laptop. Does any 1.8” HD work or does it have to be an specific brand/model?

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I’m upgrading the hard drive and keyboard on my T160P and I need info on the teardown of this laptop. It would be great If anyone has personal knowledge of this process or links with pictures. I’ve got a new Hitachi 60 GB drive, (Hitachi TravelStar C4K60 - Hard drive - 60 GB - internal - 1.8” - ATA-100 - 4200 rpm - buffer: 2 MB) , Apricorn disk cloning kit and new keyboard ready for install but I don’t want to move forward blindly. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sony T2XP - Replacement hard drive advice required

Hi all,

I’ve just managed to pick up an immaculate T2XP (not sure what the USA model no is).

The only trouble is that it’s missing a battery (which I’ve replaced) and also it’s hard disk.

Can anyone recommend a replacement hard drive for the T2XP? Does anyone know which model numbers will work? 40gb or 60gb is fine.

I’ve identified three possible drives so far. Does anyone know if these are compatible?

Toshiba MK6008GAH - ZIF

Toshiba MK6006GAH - ATA

Toshiba MK4008GAH - ATA

Am I right in thinking that either of the last two ATA drives are fine and than the T series doesn’t support ZIF?

Any help would be appreciated.

"UX & TX" AC cables interchangeable!

I just found out tonight that my TX cables work on my UX and vice versa. the tips on the AC cables are the same size and they also are both 16 volts. Considering that AC cables can run $100 after taxes and shipping that can mean a real savings. So if if anyone over here wants to add a UX PC to your arsenal, now you know your TX cables will juice it up.

Note: this has never been noted officially in any info from Sony and I have never heard/seen this on any site before.

non OEM batteries?

I looked on Ebay and have seen lots of non-OEM aftermarket batteries being sold for the T series at tempting prices. Has anyone tried these out? I keep hearing of horror stories with these non OEM batteries where they damage your computer quite badly.

TX screen cleaner?

I once used a staples generic laptop cleaner towlette on a Sony LCD monitor for a Vaio desktop. It streaked and looked crappy. Is there something I can get special for Sony TX LCD screens? I want to clean it but have it look good too and not damage it…Thanks!

I am definately gonna give the spit a shot (pardon the pun) on the screen. If it works, hey it works. It wouldn’t bother me to think about it. What does bother me is the crap on my screen now, or the streaks I had on my old lcd screen after using a commercial towette “lcd cleaner.” i just want to get the job done. Do you have one these xbrite screens and have used that thing you talked baout on it? No streaks? btw, cool

I just had a very bad experience with Sony support. They refused to give me the model number of the Toshiba drive in my notebook.My experience with Sony support—pick a division,any division—has been abysmal. The support website is fair at best. Am I over-reacting or is this the norm with Sony—lousy support.
