The SP model IMO this is the holy grail of the X505 series, due to the look of the carbon fiber throughout. It retailed for around $4000 when it first came out, and was the most expensive of the X505 series. I am a collector of VAIOs, and having owned the P, CP, and ZP models, the SP is still the most collectible and sought after due to its carbon fiber premium look. For a long time I couldn’t see myself ever selling such a beautiful machine, but life (and unfortunately the economy) changes and I think it’s time I let it go and hopefully someone can give it a good home as I have. I am thinking about selling it on eBay in the future, but I am going to try Craigslist first just to avoid the hassle of shipping and fees so that someone can get a good deal on this. If you are in or around the San Francisco Bay Area, please check out the details here:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/sys/2965846353.html

Feel free to make an offer.

Cheers everyone

Andrew
2012-04-18T13:14:48-08:00 Who here is running an SSD? https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7796/ https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7796/#When:10:50:01Z
How long has it been installed?

How much do you use the computer?

What brand is it?

Me and another member are having problems with our x505s frying SSDs. (maybe in terms of battery life and touchscreen fun it’s not on par), otherwise a device nearly a decade the predeccessor of the Ipad still RULES!

Congrats X505 team! Long live the Vaio X505 ( you should be placed in the museum of modern art and technology)!

Cheers all the lovers of this great device If you have one, just dont sell! that is EVER:)
2010-01-30T20:15:11-08:00 Finally the X505 successor - the new Vaio X https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7669/ https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7669/#When:03:57:07Z
11.1” 1366x768 screen
carbon fiber
14mm thin
700g
7.4V 4100mAh (31Wh) Li-Po battery
price?

http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/02/hands-on-sony-x-series-slimster/
http://gizmodo.com/5351061/rail+thin-carbon-fiber-sony-vaio-x-series-video-and-details
2009-09-10T03:57:07-08:00 X505 CP For Sale https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7641/ https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7641/#When:14:32:18Z
If anyone wants a X505-CP (Carbon Fiber version) then go to:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130300818737
I’m letting it go for $499 starting no reserve.
2009-04-17T14:32:18-08:00 X505 Screen problem - anyone seen this before? https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7604/ https://www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/7604/#When:19:04:36Z
I bought this sweet Sony X505 years ago….my girlfriend put it on the bookshelf between a few books not knowing what it was a few years ago and I just recently realized it (thought I lost it on the train)!!!

Anyway, long story short…I’ve been using it for about a month now as a web surfing netbook….and the screen is starting to show an issue.

See attached.

Any idea what this is? Loose connection? Bad screen, etc? How much does a new screen for an X505 cost? It only seems to be a problem on dark backgrounds…. however, it does show up all the time, even the bios. It seemed to have gone away for a day or so, but now it is there all the time.
2009-01-20T19:04:36-08:00
