Sony VAIO X505/SP for sale on SFBay Craigslist

Hello everyone

After much contemplation I have decided to sell my beloved VAIO X505/SP (the rare carbon fiber model). The SP model IMO this is the holy grail of the X505 series, due to the look of the carbon fiber throughout. It retailed for around $4000 when it first came out, and was the most expensive of the X505 series. I am a collector of VAIOs, and having owned the P, CP, and ZP models, the SP is still the most collectible and sought after due to its carbon fiber premium look. For a long time I couldn’t see myself ever selling such a beautiful machine, but life (and unfortunately the economy) changes and I think it’s time I let it go and hopefully someone can give it a good home as I have. I am thinking about selling it on eBay in the future, but I am going to try Craigslist first just to avoid the hassle of shipping and fees so that someone can get a good deal on this. Me and another member are having problems with our x505s frying SSDs. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this as well.

Anyone have an extra power adapter? or what is the best source for an OEM adapter?

Celebrate the original netbook the X505

THis is just a celebratory reminder thread to commemorate the original netbook our favored X505!

Given that it came out in 2003 and now we are writing 2010 it is hard to believe that in todays fast paced technological development environment the x505 is still as competent and most in it’s class!

It is not only that but that in a body of a goddess:)

I mean there has not been a piece of silicon placed in any better home than in the x505!
THis thing is slimmer in profile that the macbook air, lighter and more elegant and was the first laptop ever to made out of premium carbon fiber and ever to be implementing a 10 layered integrated motherboard.

It was the computer that NASA took to space and used for some communication purposes.

THe list goes on and on….

Basically the new VAio X does not follow in achievement compared with the X505.

It is the mobile computer that marked a departure to a new era of computing whatever that might be, certainly in many ways a contemporary to the idea of the Ipad.

It was great for browsing the web, just like the Ipad, it was just as light (if not lighter), it has comparable processing power, it is made out of premium materials. (maybe in terms of battery life and touchscreen fun it’s not on par), otherwise a device nearly a decade the predeccessor of the Ipad still RULES!

Congrats X505 team! Long live the Vaio X505 ( you should be placed in the museum of modern art and technology)!

X505 Screen problem - anyone seen this before?

I bought this sweet Sony X505 years agoâ€¦.my girlfriend put it on the bookshelf between a few books not knowing what it was a few years ago and I just recently realized it (thought I lost it on the train)!!!

Anyway, long story shortâ€¦Iâ€™ve been using it for about a month now as a web surfing netbookâ€¦.and the screen is starting to show an issue.

Any idea what this is? Loose connection? Bad screen, etc? How much does a new screen for an X505 cost? It only seems to be a problem on dark backgroundsâ€¦. however, it does show up all the time, even the bios. It seemed to have gone away for a day or so, but now it is there all the time.
