I checked and noticed that the retaining clip that holds the battery to the laptops chassis has sapped. the problem happened to both computers. AS a remedy i have resorted to using electical tape to keep the battery secure to the chassis. Has anyone experienced this? thanks

TX2Xp as a media player tag:https:,2008:/www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/.7477 2008-04-30T11:00:55Z sonyowner I have a TX2XP and I like the fact that it can be used as a media player without having to first boot into windows.
The only downside is that you can only play DVD films.
Does anyone know if there is a way to play divx movies at all?

Cheers.

T series tablet tag:https:,2008:/www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/.7463 2008-03-27T12:19:46Z Mike Hi, I’m considering converting my old T1 into a tablet pc / UMPC. My aim is to have it sort of working like an OQO, that is by flipping the screen and have it slide up and down over the keyboard.

In addition I will try to either covnert the exsiting screen into a touch screen or by purchasing a new similar panel.

I am having a few problems deciding which is the best option for the screen, anyone with any ideas or input?

Thanks

Replacing TX750P screen. tag:https:,2006:/www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/.6747 2006-10-28T04:55:44Z rahulnirmal2000 I am seriously considering buying a Vaio VGN-TX750P with a cracked screen and of course having it replaced.

I looked around for the screen part number and I’m quite sure it is A1154928A
and found a link where it is being sold here.

http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/S…A1154928A.aspx

That price actually sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Because I saw LCDs4less.com selling the LCD for the Vaio T series for example for at least $300.

I live in Houston and would like a local shop to replace the screen for me. What would be a good place to go, how much would they charge and how long would it take?

I hear you can do it yourself but ever since I somehow killed my Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D merely by taking out the hard drive, I am deathly afraid of tinkering inside any electronics.

I am also worried that a repair shop would have quite a difficult time installing the screen due to the TX having a much thinner, different screen than most laptops.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

TX for Student tag:https:,2007:/www.siliconpopculture.com/forum/viewthread/.7342 2007-10-06T13:20:53Z gam12 Hi,

I am an undergrad student and I am interested in getting a notebook. I mainly need it for making notes and writing papers, web surfing, looking running powerpoints or pdfs and making notes from them… but I want something which is small and light.

I had a chance to go to the sony store and play around with SZ and TZ series. Because I’ll be typing a lot, the salesman told me that the TZ would not be good, as my fingers would get cramped. But the SZ keyboard felt and sounded very cheap during typing, and the TZ did not seem that bad (although I can’t really test it for more than a few minutes, and I don’t know whether the feeling will change once my fingers get used to it.)

Now I have the chance to buy a vaio tx online and it is a very good deal. Do you think it will be able to handle my needs, and has anyone experienced any problems typing heavily for a few horus on the TX keyboard? Is the small keyboard something that everyone can get used to?

Thanks.
