My friend is visiting the States in a few weeks, I want him to bring me back a TR3.  He is visiting the city of LA, can someone recommend a place where he can pick one up for me?

Does LAX have it? would it be much difference in terms of price at the airport?  Would there be Best-Buys or Circuit City in down town LA and easily accessible for a traveller?  Would they have one in store?

Thanks in advance.

I think you definitely want to stay away from airport shops. LOL

A quick search look on the Circuit City and Best Buy website confirms a suspicion I had: the TR series are no longer being carried in-store.  If your friend can find a Fry’s, that’s a good bet.  Two week no-questions-asked return policy no notebooks too.  Of course, you’ll be paying retail.

I bought my TR2AP1 on-line from NewEgg .  It’s also available from a bunch of other on-line resellers…

Thanks for the reply.

But I can only buy in person from a store in LA.  NewEgg doesn’t exactly have a physical store.  I’m happy to pay retail for $2999 for one, but just don’t know where I can tell him to go to find one :(

Is anyone able to help?

There’s a Fry’s store in Burbank ( 30mi from LAX).  My local Fry’s has the TR3A, so I assume the Burbank store has it as well.  If you didn’t know, Fry’s is tied to Outpost , so if you see anything on-line, it should be available in the store.

Is the Fry which you have mentioned downtown?  Is it accessible easily from the center of everything?

Thanks

There is Frys in Manhattan Beach, From LAX it is around 4 miles when You take Sepulveda South. You will see it on the left ... most cars turn on this intersection (Manhattan Beach and Sepulveda) to get fried at Frys.

I strongly recommend not to buy from these screwballs especially if you are from overseas. I ordered my TR3AP3 a month ago when I was in the other office in Nevada, and even though my address was on file, just because I put my phone as 310 instead of 702 they denied the purchase twice (the rep said .. sir you are in nevada and have a 310 number…. stupid b&tch; didn’t know of a cell phone existance). They shipped the TR3AP1 though… so go figure it out. Fry’s will have a TR3A, just mod it.

I would highly recommend buying from an online store like newegg (which is what I did) since you would not only save on the original prices but also on the taxes which do add up to a huge sum. I saved $413 by buying my tr3ap3 from newegg.com compared to sonystyle.com. Youll probably land up paying 3250-3350 with taxes.

However, I dont know if newegg charges sales tax in LA. Also, if online stores is fine with you, visit http://www.pricegrabber.com, search for tr3ap3 and get the best deal for ur location since it would give u results from lots of online stores alongwith taxes, shipping, etc based on ur state.

What did u find so bad abt their service?..check their ratings on pricegrabber..they have some excellent feedbacks Even though 2 times their CSR’s lied to me abt releasing my order the third one was good and upgraded my shipping to fedex 2 day from fedex saver for free.

however, 1 thing that i did dislike abt them was that even though they show that they take a lot of precaution in preventing credit card fraud (by getting in those things like shiiping and billing address being same or else add shipping address on file with card issuer), they shamelessly charged my card even after saying that they were unable to verify my info. while most online shopping sites charge the cc only after shipping.

If you’re going to get it there (at Fry’s) also make sure you call ahead of time to see if they have it in stock. They can hold items for you for a few days if they have it in stock.

Also, as someone mentioned earlier…Fry’s is full of idiots. It’s a great place to go if you know what you’re looking for. If you’re not sure then don’t go and do your research first. The people they hire there are clueless and will only confuse you with their lack of knowledge.

In addition to Manhattan Beach (Tropical Island Theme) Fry’s also has stores in other parts of Los Angeles. These include Burbank (UFO Theme), Woodland Hills (Alice in Wonderland Theme), and the City of Industry (Mechanical Theme). Also, slightly south of Los Angeles is Fountain Valley (Mythology Theme).

that’s why I recommended going to this Dimiter Mitov Guy since I know he can handle most of the questions. Dont go to the jamaican guys… they are clueless….. You can get the TR3A and you have 15 days at Frys to return it for a full refund no restocking fees.
