Lines burned into the screen

Okay, so I love my TR - I use it when I travel and really don’t want to replace it, but all of a sudden I have lines “burned” into the screen so that I can hardly see the screen (and they cut through the text). It works fine with an external monitor. I realize it is getting old now, so am hoping that it is either something simple, or someone has a suggestion for a used screen (I did have the extended warranty, but it is over now).

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like faulty LCD.. but can you elaborate?

They are pretty costly to replace even secondhand on eBay.

Thanks so much for your reply - I found out it has a small crack - so replacement is my only option. I guess I’ll check ebay, any other suggestions?

I have been so happy with this, I’m not sure what I would replace my computer with these days! What have other TR owners gone to?

Good Screens tend to go for upwards of £200 on eBay in the UK, (current exchange rates make that near $400 USD!!)

The only option is to look for another TR with a faulty Mainboard, or that’s been damaged in some other way but still has a good screen on eBay, you wont get it for a song but it will probably cost you less once you sell the other parts you don’t need off like keyboard / HDD and anything else it comes with that’s useable.. or you could sell or part out yours and buy a good used TR on eBay..

I’m sticking with the TR for now because I love them, and a recent SSD hdd has really transformed it, (see SSD HDD topic).

Newer T / TX series are not much improved performance wise and seem cheaper build quality / more problematic / not as stylish. The TZ far to expensive at the moment, and unproven reliability yet…
