I have a Vaio TR1 and recently it is unable to use AC power. It work properly when using battery. When I insert the AC jack into TR1, the power indicator of AC adaptor turn off and the TR1 indicate that it is using battery. If I remove the battery, it dead completely.
I’ve checked the AC adaptor with another Vaio, it works properly.
I need to fix it as soon as possible, because the battery is running out and my notebook will dead completely. What parts I need to replace? the MB or something else? How much will it cost me?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have this problem too, does anyone out there know if there is some way i can power my tr from the mains without the battery?
The reason why I am asking is that I am having problem recharging the battery, I bought a new one and a new power adaptor, but am still having problems.

I’ve already fixed this problem. When I disassembly my TR, I found a SMT capacitor (just under the DC jack) was cracked. After replacing this chip Cap, everything is OK.

Hello. I’m starting to have the same issue. I was wondering if you can tell me what is the specs of the capacitor you replaced close to the jack. My deduction tells me it’s multi layer monolithic non-polar 16V. What capacitance? 22UF?
