hi all-

for some reason on the tr2 i cannot get gotomypc to run in full screen mode.  for some reason the left side and the right side of the screen has about 2” of black on bot sides.  how do i get rid of this? is it possible?

THANKS!

I think it has to do with the fact that GoToMyPC is not expecting the slightly unorthodox resolution of 1280x768. I suspect it’s defaulting to 1024x768 and thus the black bars on the left and right sides on the screen. I don’t know that you can do anything about it unless the program supports the widescreen resolution. You could stretch out the screen using the “fill” feature of the graphics chipset software but it would only stretch things out.

I haven’t really tested out their software so these are just guesses…

yeah i am new to it as well so i am unclear how to get it working.  its ok the way it is but it would be better if it filled the screen.

thanks for the help though

Ok, your post piqued my interest so i installed a trial version of GoToMyPC on my computers to test it out.

Here’s what I’ve seen…

GoToMyPC will only show you the native resolution of the remote computer you are controlling so, if I’m using 1024x768 on the remote system then it won’t be full screen when i look at it on my 1280x768 screen. Also, if i’m using a higher resolution on my desktop like 1600x1024 then on my TR I can choose to see the full resolution (forcing me to scroll or I can choose scale-to-fit or a percentage to force it to maximize the screen). Even though 1600x1024 is widescreen it still doesn’t fill up my TR’s screen because the difference in aspect ratio (16:9 versus 16:10). So, it’s definitely a limitation of the software…but it’s still nifty software nonetheless. Perhaps the next version will have resolution independence.

Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Control software is the only one I’ve seen where you can manually set the resolution you want to use regardless of whatever the remote system is using.

hi gr00vy-

thanks for checking into all this for me.  i am kind of a dummy or a sillyrabbitt when it comes to alot of this stuff.  i am learning but i dont think i will ever master all of.  i am still a little confused but i get the drfit basically deal with how it works!

it is actually awesome and i love the software the only problem is i am having trouble using it with my works vpn software.  when i log onto to the vpn through a remote session of gotomypc it freezes.  so i might need to try ms version of remote software maybe it wont happen using that and i can get the screen res to where i want it like you said.

on another note if you want a link to a copoun for discount on gotomypc let me know.  if you sign up for the year it will be $110 not bad in my book.  i just wished it worked with the vpn.
