Hi, all.

I bought a used TR1AP that had had its original software wiped and replaced with a vanilla WinXP Pro installation.  (I.e., all TR-specific drivers and software missing.)  It also did not come with recovery CDs.  With the help from people on this board I’ve been able to get it up and running great in just a few hours (!!)—-> but it would be great to have a copy of the recovery CDs just in case, for emergencies.  E.g.—-> I don’t have the copy of the XP Pro CDs that were used to do the clean reinstall on this machine, so if it were to get corrupted again, I’d be SOL.

Anyway.  Since this model did originally ship with the recovery CDs, I don’t feel too worried about bringing down the wrath of Sony for not coughing up the usurious $70 (!!!) they charge for a replacement set. It’s sort of like the CD/MP3 analogy—-> if you’d paid for a music CD, and subsequently lost/destroyed it, you wouldn’t feel so bad for downloading MP3s backups to listen to instead.

I’m looking for anyone w/ a TR1AP who’d be willing to burn and ship me a copy of their replacement CDs.  I’d be willing of course to pay a reasonable fee <$70 for the cost of the media, shipping, and for your extra efforts.  I’m located in San Francisco.  If you happen to be in the Bay Area I could most likely pick them up in person to avoid shipping hassles.

Thanks so much!!

That’s all,

Sam Trychin

I bought a German TR1 and wanted WinXP in English.

So I looked—an found the TR1 recovery dvd (image file) on the eMule/eDonkey network. I downloaded it, burned it to a DVD, and that was it. Total cost = less than a buck, the price of a DVD-R.

Good luck!
