Hi all VAIO owners,

If you also use a Sony Ericsson phone with your Sony VAIO, here is a little gift I have made for the VAIO community.

As you know, some Sony Ericsson phones come with an application called Remote Control that makes your SE phone act like a mouse to control your computer via Bluetooth HID functions.

As a VAIO TR5 owner, I have long bemoaned that my VAIO does not come with a dedicated remote control such as the one that ships with some VAIOs. I decided I would put my SE phone to good use.
Using Sony Ericsson’s freely available developer tools, I have created a HID profile that will allow you to control VAIO Zone via Bluetooth.

To begin, download the file (VAIO Zone.hid) here:   .

Use Bluetooth to send this file to your SE phone. Once the file has been transferred, you will be prompted - on the screen of your SE phone - if you want to save the file and if you want to ‘Add to Remote control’. Press ‘Yes’. Make sure VAIO Zone is already running on your computer.

You will now see the above image on the screen which shows you the various VAIO Zone functions that are mapped to your SE phone buttons.

That’s it! You now have a VAIO Zone remote control! Enjoy!

Edit: Renamed two buttons (previously ‘Content List’ and ‘Properties’) to MENU and TOOLS for consistency with the VAIO Zone interface.

Wow, great idea man. I got P910 SE phone but unfortunately it does not come with the Remote Control app, do you know where I can get one to utilize your hack? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the Remote Control application is available outside of a SE phone’s firmware.

According to Sony Ericsson’s documentation:

The Remote control menu in the phone is found under Connectivity/Bluetooth in the K700, S700, V800
and Z800 series. In the K750, W800, Z520, K600, W600, W550, W900, W810, K610, K800, K790, Z530,
W300, K510, W700, Z525, Z550, W850, Z710, W710 and Z610 series, the menu is found under Entertainment.

Sorry.

For those who own Sony Ericson Cellphones “floats mobile agent” is a must! Its a freeware that allows you to do ordinary things like

-Phonebook editing
-Send administrate SMS
-synchronise with computer
... whatever

The function of computer remoting is integrated, too.
You guys should try it. People say its even better than OEM software…
