For the people using Linux, are you dual-booting?

I’ll be getting the TR soon, but I’m wondering if I can setup a dual boot just like my desktop computer.

Typically, I’ll use Partition Magic to resize the primary C: partition and give the Linux partition, say, about 3-5 gigs of space.  Then I simply install Linux onto that empty partition.

Will I be able to do the same thing on the TR?

Thank you!

yes no problem !

Me i made rescue disks (8 cd !) with the Sony utilitie and after remove all the partitions on the disk (i don’t like to have a 5Go rescue partition it’s lost of space…) after you can restore the windows system where you want with the cd

linux installs a boot manager, that gives you the choice of what to load

I have a dual-boot going on my TR3A.  The Windows XP that came with it and Fedora Core 3 (soon to upgrade to Core 4).

I like the flexibility of having both systems.  I use Dreamweaver, and I like to be able to use that under XP.  I really had a lot of trouble using Wine a couple years ago and have not bothered to go back.  Also, I have not successfully got the WiFi working on Fedora yet (mind you, I haven’t spent any time trying), so I use XP when I’m out and about and need to access the Internet at a cafe or something.

My most frequently used applications, Firefox, Thunderbird & OpenOffice.org are setup on both the Fedora & XP installations, so I can share all of those documents (ie: my email, web bookmarks, etc. are on a shared partition, so I can always get to that stuff, regardless of whether I’m in Linux or XP).

I’ve never used Disk Druid, but it should be fine.  I used Partition Magic (Win prg) to setup my partitions, but either way it should work.

Fedora installs Grub as its bootloader.  Grub is great as long as you know (and maybe write down) which partition is which.  You should have no problem with Grub.

I am dual booting Fedora core 4 and Windows XP. Works like a charm, it’s really easy to setup.
