Hi folks,

i tried to find an answer on my question with the search ! Unfortunately I was not succesfull :( Maybe the answer is somewhere !? I have a german TR1MP and the original german recovery DVD. I also have an original UK recovery DVD! I wanted to give my TR for some time to my cousin who doesn’t speak german. Unfortunately the DVD is making some sort of BIOS check and denies to install! I remember reading a tweak for that problem but it was years ago! I think it was a trick with renaming or changing some files on the recovery!?

I would be very gratefull if someone could lead me to a solution smile

Thanks a million

I have made a massive check of the board and it really seams that a lot of people have or had this problem! Still there was no solution posted :( Any succes on flashing the BIOS (DE->UK or similar)? Is it really so that once You flash the BIOS the machine will change form german to UK or vice versa?

Maybe there is a good soul that is willing to make a BIOS flash disk for an UK model and share the files?? That would give me a start to try;)

Hi guys,

I have a tr2 from germany(vienna as it so happens…) and i had to

a) reinstall xp
b) reload all drivers and bios, - this bit is trick as iused to have a link on my fav but i will check my other laptop to see if it there…youcould possibly google sony update downloads….all the necessary software is there…i pretty much hung around here because some of the posts here incl one i posted earlier has a link to it…so good luck…
c) i also installed vaio zone 1.1 which works perfectly with the exception of the dvd which io havent bothered with…

Only problem is i think i need to replace keyboard at some point cos it is german…any ideas on how this can be done? thanks

[quote author=“MahenG”]a) reinstall xp

Okay, just organize any XP-version of your own choice and use the TR-drivers. Login at http://www.vaio-link.com/downloads/register/register.asp?l=de&p=select

b) reload all drivers and bios

What about the BIOS, why you need to update it? I’m using a japanese TR with a german OS… no problems at all.

There is also no problem with “other” keyboard-layout. Just jack up the Z- and the Y-key carefully and switch them. Then you’ve got german keyboard-layout.
