Don’t know if anyone added these:

Call of Duty runs EXCELLENT in 1024X768 mode with medium graphics settings, I’m quite surprised at this one.

Morrowind runs great at 800X600 with medium detail and a bit slower at 1024X768.

Gothic 2 runs very decent at 800X600 with medium detail.

Has anyone tried out Silent Storm yet?  I’d love to play that, but I have doubts as to whether or not it’d work on the TR2.

I just picked up Silent Storm. Runs great on my 2.8ghz machine. According to the box, the minimum speed for it is 600mhz. Now, I don’t know how well it would run at that speed, but I’ll give it a shot on my TR2 and let you guys know how it runs.

I picked up Silent Storm for my PCG-TR2/B and it works quite well at medium detail levels (I haven’t bumped the settings yet).

[quote author=“fibrizo”]Here’s the program I use 3d-analyzer

http://www.tommti-systems.com/main-Dateien/files.html

Hmm—thanks for the recommendation, but whenever I try to run it, I get a message saying “Could not copy C:\...\hook_3DA.dll to C\...\hook_3DA.dll”—no matter what .exe I try to use.  I’ve tried it on the FFXI benchmark and Max Payne, but I get the same thing.  Any ideas?

God SAVE the tr1aP, im just playing Max PAyne2 in it and works perfectly!
smooth and fast, althought you have to trick the game for wide screen it looks so nice at 800x600 (a little bit deformed cause of the magnify button but…).

I promised myself that I would not use my TR1MP for games - I have other machines for that…so what was the first thing I did? Install loads of games!!

I’m a bit of a graphics whore, so I tend to like my frames per sec up in at least the 30’s, and whilst I love 3d games, I tend to only play them rarely on laptops regardless of how they perform.

I have plenty to try, so the following is just the beginning:

GTA Vice City - 800x600/16 bit - excellent performance - just shows how good the engine is…I lose a few fps during rain as some have already noticed, but at this resolution it doesn’t affect gameplay at all.
Syberia
Syberia 2

Rise of Nations - Borderline. Playable at around 18-25 fps at 1024x768. If you up the resolution to 1280x768 its still mainly OK, but it feels like you’re playing through glue..
Age of Wonders - Shadow Magic
American McGee’s Alice
Red Alert 2
Starship Titanic
Stronghold Crusader
Space Colony
Civ 3
Diablo 2
Galactic Civilizations
Uplink

Industry Giant 2
Desperados
Commandos2
Thief 2
System shock 2
Deus Ex
Half Life
Baldurs Gate 2
Star Wars Galactic Batlegrounds
Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Empire Earth
Gothic
Conquest Frontier Wars

Fallout series
Emperor:Battle for Dune
Codename Outbreak
Clive Barker’s Undying

All the above work flawlessly.

I know most of these are quite old and dont tax the system too much. I’ll post some more recent ones next week, though as I said, I don’t find laptops particularly great for playing 3d games - they get hot, keyboards take a lot of pounding, processors overheat etc…Plus I have found many of the latest games to be graphically splendid, but the gameplay is the same old same old..(Far Cry so far excepted)

What is good to know is that many of my favourite games, some of which are quite old, work fantastically on the TR series.

Hope that helps, more later.

Here’s some more:

Geoff Crammond’s Grand Prix 4 - Playable at 640x480
Monopoly Tycoon - superb at full resolution
X-Beyond the Frontier / X-Tension - superb at full res.
Dungeon Siege - between 18 and 30 fps
Nox (remember that?) 100%
Sacred - great new Diablo style game, runs very well graphically, but jerks a little every so often due to slow HD access. Shame as this is a top game.
Freelancer - excellent at 1024x768
Age of Mythology - excellent at 1024x768
Silent Storm - only just getting intto this one but so far its really smooth at 800x600x32. You may have to tweak a few settings but its great.

In my opinion the first version of this game is by far the best, even if the grf are not so hot - the game play and feel of the car is superb… but it won’t play on my TR1 - can’t even get to the menu, it just crashes :(

I see here that Half-Life should work with the TR but I can’t get it to work.  I can start up the program but when actually starting up the game it keeps asking to insert the game disc even though it is already in.  This is the first version of the game, released way back in 1998, maybe that has something to do with it.  Also, does anyone know why when playing games at 800x600 res, the picture is really small with borders around the entire screen?
