Hard disk sound…

I just got a sony S18 4 days ago. When the laptop is in idle mode, the hard disk would have some clicking sounds, but when I am using applications, the sounds would not be so audible. Kinda worried if anything is wrong with the hard disk… Was wondering if any of you encountered this with your S series lappy.

What make HD do you have ? If its the Hitachi then, from the experience of people here , you MIGHT be slightly more prone to a HD crash than if you have a toshiba drive. But then again dont let me scare you, most of these sounds are normal.. dont think there should be any cause for concern.

My hard disk is a hitachi one. Wonder if its spoilt… The clicking comes once in a while but not during work…
