The TR2 and TR3 are practically identical in terms of both hardware and software. What will (or will not) work on one will do the same on the other, with the exception of a few Sony-locked drivers and programs.

Dude, that avatar is going to drive people on the forum bonkers, never mind the poor horse.

According to this: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-010471.htm

It can work but I haven’t tried my copy on my TR2 yet

From Intel Website (might be worth a try)

Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family
Star Wars*: Knights of the Old Republic* game compatibility issues

Symptom(s):

Star Wars*:  Knights of the Old Republic* game displays a black screen when loading or it minimizes to the taskbar, with no means to restore it.

error:  “SWKotOR Scan Results.  Game Requirements Not Met.  You current hardware configuration does not meet the game’s required specifications.”

Details information shows:  “Video Failed…Graphics Required:  32 MB OpenGL 1.4 compatible PCI or AGP 3D Hardware Accelerator with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L) Capability required….OpenGL Failed…Required:  Non-Windows Generic OpenGL 1.4.0 drivers”

Menus show in the wrong location of the screen.

Blocky areas sporadically appear during the game.

Cause:

Solution:

Use the latest Intel® graphics driver to correct the main issue, which prevents the game from running.  Refer to the driver README file for installation instructions as needed.

The following steps can be used to eliminate or minimize the “minimize to the taskbar” issue:

Go to:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Intel(R) Extreme Graphics > Graphics Properties…
Select the “OpenGL” tab.
Change the “Flipping Policy” to “Blit”.
Intel is aware of the menu issue and blocky areas issue and they will be fixed in a future graphics driver release.

Operating System:
Windows* 2000, Windows* 98, Windows* 98 SE, Windows* Me, Windows* XP Home Edition, Windows* XP Professional

This applies to: Intel® 82830M Graphics Controller
Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family
Intel® 82865G Graphics Controller
Intel® 82915G Express Chipset Family

Touchy, touchy.  Don’t be so quick to bite the hand that could potentially help you later on.  Drachen’s participation and willingness to help others on this forum is something to respect.  Even though his post did not directly help you, he thought enough to respond to you.  I hope you will do the same in the future.

Welcome to the forum.

When you are new, almost anything is forgiven.  We’ve all been there.  I’ve put my foot in my mouth a few times myself.  When I buy shoes I have to make sure there are 3 instead of 2.

Good luck with your game.  I’m a big Star Wars fan.  I think the storyline went a lot deeper than Lucas ever imagined.  Episode III is sure to be epic.

PS - Do something with that avatar.  Please.

No joke, you asked the question, Drachen answered it.

If it won’t work on a 2, it won’t work on a 3. If you figure out how to run it on a 3, then using the same method, it will work on a 2.

In your original post you stated you KNEW it would not run on the TR2. Drachen answered, based on your stated knowlege.

Don’t let your attitude get in the way of getting along. And, yes, your avitar is irritating.

Well the fact that it is so over-the-top intense and uneccesarily irritating as such is the interlying heart of the humor behind it.  The fact that instead of going full circle in the understanding of the joke of it all, you 3 stop short at the irritating emotion which automatically demonstates your lack of humor and shows want in the department of creativity, positivity and having a laugh at the world around you.

Become a more well rounded person, and then you will appreciate this tremendously creative avatar.

Time to hit the ‘ignore’ switch methinks.
