As said before by gr00vy0ne, the AP3 uses a different chipset for the wireless (and that is the reason why it is called a “PENTIUM M” machine and not a “CENTRINO” machine”.  The Intel update will not work on your ap3.

That said, you can still get similar functionality by installing the Atheros Client Utility, which works great.  I am using 2.4.2.18 with WZC disabled and have not had a single problem.

Should you have problems finding the ACU, send me a private note.

My TR3AP1 has the Centrino sticker and comes with the Intel PRO Wireless 2200bg. The installed driver on my TR is ver. 80012-20000 which is the currenly available version on the Intel site, the drivers are bundled with PROSet. Find out more and download here:

...a day later: The installer allows you to install PROSet alone and it’s working great on my TR3.

hi all, first i apologize me for my bad english.

Then i have a little problem, i come into the world or TR, i juste have bought a Sony TR3E/B (celeron-m) ... but not a new one, everything goes fine except wifi, i havee a icon to switch on wifi and bluetooth but no other icon like usual with signal strength and soone ... and in my networks i don’t find wifi connection only ethernet and 1394 ... i think i dont have the good driver but i cant find wich one to install ... can you help ? wich wifi chipset does i have ?

Have you taken your TR apart? Maybe its a loose connection for the antenna or maybe the module itself is not seeded (sp?) properly.

I would guess your WiFi card or its socket (hopefuly not) is going bad. Is there any way you can swap yours with another card for testing?

I am sure you already tried Uninstalling the WiFi from Device Manager, rebooting, have the machine find it, and reinstalling the drivers..

Otherwise, I have no other ideas.
