I’m sorry, but the gfx card on the TR is simply awful raspberry

I’d prefer a solution such as the Geforce FX 5200 Go or something. Something that doesnt dissipate much heat.

Another nice feature could be Digital Out be it Coax or Optical because i have a surround sound system and I’d LOVE to be able to connect it to them without the need for a USB2 soundcard smile

yay, the tr simply isn’t a monster when it comes to graphics.  the ability to play games and other rich based graphics just isn’t what the tr was made for.  i also wish that it could encompass a wider spectrum of user needs, but it’s been brought up before and will continue to come up in the future, for those needs maybe the tr isn’t the best choice.  you might want to look to the over vaio systems like 505 or the z1.  but for the rest of us i suppose the tr is just fine.

Steve,

There’s a graphics card from Margi that you can look into AND there are USB soundcards that are available for you.

I think gr00vy talked about it on a thread somewhere out there. I forget which. Otherwise you can do a google search.

Let me know if you need more info,

just curious, what do you use your tr for? i agree with you on the digital out but the graphics are sufficient enough for my needs.

Yeah, i wouldn’t complain too much considering no other notebook in the same class has discrete graphics. The TR as it is is already pretty loaded considering the size.

Perhaps another version might solve this but I doubt it. the next version of the platform will include a vastly improved integrated graphics chipset so it’s unlikely the truly ultraportables will use discrete solutions.

Of course, the Type-S that’s coming will come with ATI Mobility Radeon 9200s (and/or 9700s in Japan). It’s a little bigger but it’s only 4lbs.

All nVidias produce too much heat, ATI makes an all around better card, IMO.

Well the nvidia geforcefx go 5200 doesnt dissipate very much heat compared to its rival the radeon 9200 :(

I use my TR for stoing my fotos on the go and i use it for web purposes when i go out. Since i do a lot of computer support for people, i also tend to take it to places with me to help fix some friends problems. I’d just like to be able to play the odd game or two on it when on the move to cure my boredom sometimes because solitaire and freecell are borning now wink

You need MAME or similar type of emulator. That will keep you occupied for hours as you relive the old days with hundreds if not thousands of different games you can play. It’s mostly free too if you know where to look. It’s sure a lot better than Solitaire and Freecell.

:?

There are plenty of good PC games that work fine on the TR :?:  rolleyes

We even have a thread detailing some of them. I like RPG’s and find even NeverWinter Nights playable without all the bells & whistles switched on.

I’m confussed :!:  :!:  :!:

From what I read it still produces more heat then the ATI, from personal experience, having 2 nVidias, i’ll never buy another one again…horrible product all around…with lousy drivers.
