The first wallpaper looks really cool on the TR. The second one….heart.gif :D :D

Since neither of these wallpapers r 1280 x 768 u will need to change the Position to Stretch (In display properties) to display them correctly on the TR.

Just to make my 500th post a little more useful than the usual sarcasm and invective, I thought I’d post a few of my favorite desktop images . All are 1280x768 for our beloved TRs. Most tend towards the minimal with space on the left for a few icons. Rahul, I included a 1280x768 version of the Vaio chick in red for you.

Just thought that I’d remind everyone to make sure that when applying their new snazzy desktop pics that it’s better to use the ‘web’ tab under ‘customise desktop’ on the desktop window, instead of just choosing it the normal way.  This is because normally windows creates a bmp file of whatever you choose to display, and these are uncompressed and so take up a lot of memory.  If you add you pic as a web page then it is kept as a jpg/gif etc and so you gleam back a few bits of ram from the every hungry windows

Ok I just read my last post and realised it could be confusing so thought I’d do a proper ‘how to’:

First off find your new desktop image
Right click on your destop and choose properties
Click on ‘Desktop’ tag
In the background box select ‘None’ at the top
Click ‘Customise Desktop’
Click on the ‘Web’ tab
Click on ‘New’
Type in the location of your picture, or browse to it
Click ‘Ok’
It shoud now appear in your list of web pages with a tick next to it
Make sure that ‘Lock destop items’ is unchecked for now
Click ‘Ok’ twice to close all windows
You should now have you image on your background, but mine are always off to the lower right of my screen so to move them, hover over the image for a second and a boarder will apear around it.
Click on the arrow in the top left of the image and select ‘cover desktop’.  Your image should now be in the correct place.
Finally go back and tick the ‘lock destop items’ box to stop yourself moving the image by accident.

While this may seem like a bit of a chore, it’s really not that bad, and the nice thing is that you save some memory and you can create your own list of pictures in the ‘web pages’ box, which means its quicker and easier to change your desktop once you’ve done it once.

You can have more than one ‘web page’ on your desktop and resize them as you like.  A good suggestion would be one to this forum so that you can always see if there are any new posts   :o

Well I think this post is long enough now so will stop….

Matt: I lose ~500k (with no windows open) doing that. I think you’re fogetting that Windows has to load an IE process to display a web page on the desktop. The picture gets uncompressed at some point to blit it to the screen anyway.

Tiffany: Bland/minimal is good IMO. I think the silver XP Style would match your background and sidebar a little better. Then again, I’m Mr. Monochome.

gr00vy: I’ll wait until you have the self-changable titles. I’m kind of a control-freak about that. For this avatar, it probably would have been “Not without incident”, but I have a feeling I’ll be changing avatars soon, so don’t bother for now.

I would have no idea how to react to personally encountering that.

Would that be considered a talent?  LOL

Well new to this group but been reading alot - thought I would contribute a Wallpaper that I am using - it is a local pier - way down in New Zealand - it appears I might be the only one here with a TR!  :D

NBrighton.jpg

(Forgive the hacked bottom - I just needed the bottom to be above my task bar)

If anyone wants it then get it here

Thanks for the great site people!

Is there any way to alter the ‘appearance’ colour schemes under properties to have colours other than the three built in? They’re clashing with my desktop!!!
