Hi guys, i have a like new sony vaio TX850P laptop. I have hardly used it and just recently ive noticed that the battery is no longer being recognized by the laptop, nor is the laptop charging it. When i try to turn on the laptop with just the battery installed, nothing happens, no light. When i use the AC adapter, the laptop works fine… I thought the battery was the problem, so i replaced it and the issue persists. Ive tried changing the power profiles, nothing has worked so far. Help!

So, where the problem? Motherboard or something minor. Everyhting else on the laptop works great as it is basically new with less than 5hrs of usage on it.

I would really really appreciate any and every input.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Same thing happened to me last year when I got my SSD and the TX770P won’t charge or lit that blinking battery led that tells it is charging.  So what I did, I left it on from night till I arrived home from work to see that it’s still not charging it.  So I ran the whole Systems Restore and Windows Update. Still no battery it won’t recognize it.  So I removed the battery, restarted it and just plugged-in power.  Once inside Windows I snapped the battery back in.  Still not charging.  So I left it overnight again, then when I arrived still no battery, I said uh-oh..  But then again I remember those Sony Vaio Updates so I installed this  but before I restarted I removed the battery so it ran from AC.  Then when it booted to Windows and snapped the battery one more time, and voila! the Battery Led blinked.. I jumped! and said to myself omg I saved 300 bucks for almost thinking on buying a new battery.

Hope that helps, sorry for the long chronology of the process.
btw, check your Sony Vaio Updates.
I hope you’re running Windows XP Pro.
