Hello to all!

I’m new to this forum but not to TR lappys ;o)

My current one is a TR3AP upgraded with internal Bluetooth and a DVD burner.  And yes, the MotionEye cam works ;o)

However, one thing has me buggered…whenever the lappy is on battery, the CPU throttles back to 595MHZ making it somewhat sluggish.  I’ve turned Power Management off for both the plugged-in and battery modes but the issue persists.  Apparently you can’t defeat CPU throttling in the BIOS either.  The only thing I can do is to boot the unit plugged in (CPU is at 992Mhz) and then unplug it.  It doesn’t seem to throttle down if it’s booted when plugged in and then unplugged.  Booting on battery results in 595Mhz.

Is this lappy designed to work at only 595Mhz (or less) on battery or have I missed something?

Thanks,
Steve

I’m running a TR1MP (uk spec 900mhz cpu).

If you have the “Power Panel” go into “power profile” and choose the “edit/create profile”. a new window opens now choose on the left the option you use when running on batteries, (so for me it’s “maximum battery” with some edits).

Now in the right hand window choose “CPU control” in “System” and change to “adaptive”

close the windows (or make other changes) and it will ask if you want to save the profile say yes.

It should now be at 595mhz unless it requres more grunt and will automatically step up if required.

You can see it working by downloading WCPUCLK from here:-

Works for me let me know how you get on… oh and if you really want to see an improvement in performance with TR series have a read of my replies in the SSD HDD topic
