Been a few days since I’ve last used my laptop.. I boot her up and go to install some software off a CD.. CD tray won’t pop open… I go to My Computer to eject from there, the drive doesn’t even show up!  I had one DVD drive - but that was linked to Alcohol, which has since expired and I deleted it, hoping it would fix whatever was wrong… no dice.

I’m thinking Alcohol messed some crap up.. either it stole the letter my CD/DVD ROM was using or some other bull crap..

Any suggestions?

I had this happen on my TR2 after some difficulties with ipod/itunes - the cd/dvd drive just vanished.

I put in a music cd and the drive reappeared. I took the opportunity to update the firmware. This helped for a while, but it eventually disappeared again with no warning.

I ended up completely reinstalling Windows. Everything has worked perfectly now for a month.
