This thread I would like to express the changes I would like to see in the next generation TR.

1. I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the camera to add additional space for the screen.  Make the case maybe the same size but cut down on the boders around the screen so maybe they could make it like 11.6 wide screen or something like that nature.

2. Go with a light weight maybe a carbon fiber.

3. Have a built in wireless tv turner.

Just anyone elses thoughts?

sounds like you ought to sell your TR and get an x505

the camera is one of the TR’s bigger highlights! there’s a reason why they call’em picture books hheehe

If you’re going to put in a video/out jack, why not have video/in too. Of course that opens it up for the no s-video and component complaints. smile

A TV tuner? Problem is that TV needs an antenna and the best possible internal would be a loop around the screen. (Excuse me, could we exchange seats, I nead to turn my PC) You’d still need an external ant. connector. Pretty expensive proposition just to make the TR a TV.

A bluetooth tv tuner would be cool, but I don’t know if BT has the bandwidth.

I’d like to see at least one recessed USB port so that dongles or cables don’t stick out so far. Even better might be an easily accessable USB compartment so small devices could be semi-permanently installed.

All-in-all, faster, lighter and more battery would be all it would take for me to upgrade.

Two additional things:

- Jog Dial

- A swivel on the LCD screen to make it a hybrid tablet. :D

I assume that would include touch-screen and stylus input.

Thats why you buy the Mp3 remote, it has a functional jog-dial.

[quote author="Doubtful"]I’m sure we would all love to see a new TR but to be honest, I doubt there will be a new one. I believe that the TR5 will be the last of the TR series, or if it is upgraded, it won’t be for a few years. I think this way because I have always wanted Sony to bring out a new Z series but over a year has passed and haven’t seen an update at all. I beleive Sony is just going to bring out new models and designs instead of updating the more aged ones.

They may not call it a TR, but the form-factor works and is obviously selling. With the exception of a Jog dial for TS LOL about the only ergonomic changes I’d make would be to isolate the caps-lock key.

Well, perhaps a 10-key/navigation pad in the lower right; switchable 10k/nav/off. Then there’d be room for a decent right-shift key.

The Mp3 Remote designed for the Picturebook (which works with the TR) has a jog dial that allows you to customize it and launch software.

Thats because the auctions are from January. As far as I know, just watch ebay, they pop up every once in a while.
